Denman Partners with Hair Aid; Gives Hair Cutting Training in Quezon City
Denman, the renowned brand of hairbrushes, trusted by hair stylists around the world, goes beyond its business of brushes to help individuals from communities in Quezon City through its recent partnership with Hair Aid.
Denman Philippines joined Hair Aid, a nonprofit organization, for a hair cutting training/ workshop in Quezon City, serving as host to Barangay Commonwealth, one of the seven participating communities. Denman Ambassadors Jon Velasco and Anton Papa, along with a handful of Hair Aid volunteers, lent their expertise in hair cutting and styling, teaching interested participants the basics of their craft.
Founded by Australian couple Selina Tomasich and her husband Mark, Hair Aid offers hair cutting training as a community program, wherein professional hair stylists teach interested citizens basic livelihood skills such as hairdressing. Through these new skills, these individuals become more empowered, and are given the opportunity to earn a decent living and support their families.
COMMUNITY BUILDING THROUGH HAIR CUTTING
Denman and Hair Aid hosts training programs twice a year, and this 2018, they headed to Quezon City.
All of the volunteers help in raising funds for the various programs of Hair Aid, and are always seeking new ways to help empower communities around the world. From Indonesia to India and the Philippines, all Hair Aid initiatives are driven by the passion of the volunteers.
In the Philippines, in cooperation with the Office of the Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, Denman and Hair Aid tapped 7 communities and took in a total of 210 participants with 30 members each. In addition to hair cutting training, Hair Aid offered a manicure-pedicure training program as well as a tool sharpening skills training for the men.
