On Saturday the 1st December 2018 The Bella Team held our annual fundraising street stall where we raised a total of $1,500, which has been donated to Bowel Cancer Australia. Congratulations to the Bella Team on another successful fundraiser and thank you to all of our clients who purchased our goodies on the day, we hope you enjoyed them.
Bowel Cancer Australia are the leading national charity dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, research, quality treatment and the best care for everyone affected by bowel cancer. Their vision is to have an everlasting impact on our health future – one where no Australian dies from bowel cancer and all those diagnosed receive the support they need.
HAIR AID IN MANILLA
Emma recently went to Quezon City Manilla for a week as a volunteer with Hair Aid to teach street women haircutting skills over a five-day intensive training program. Hair Aid work with the poorest of the families so they can learn skills to earn money to feed, clothe and shelter themselves and their family.
The Bella Cake Stall was held on Saturday 1st December in conjunction with the Christmas in Woodend event.
Beautiful bread, Anzac biscuits, shortbread, jams, marmalade, yoyos, sweet mince pies and more…The cake stall was held in front of the salon from 8am till 1pm. It was a huge success.
Thank you to everyone who took it upon themselves to bake and to man the stall. Also thank you to everybody who purchased the delicious goodies.
We raised $784.10 at the stall, matched by the salon—a total of $1568.20 for our chosen charity, Very Special Kids. Proceeds go to Glen Osmond Farm, Woodend. Very Special Kids supports Victorian families who are caring for children with life-threatening illnesses. A well-known local couple, Janet and Bernie Hawkins, donated 26 hectares of land to build up to four cottages and a barn. Glen Osmond Farm will enable families to have a break from the constant stress that is so much a part of having a child with a life-threatening condition.
Relay for life originated in the US in 1985 when Dr Gordy Klatt—a colorectal surgeon—spent a gruelling 24 hours running and walking around a local oval to raise awareness about cancer. Relay for Life events are now held in more than 600 communities across 20 countries. Relay For Life began in Australia in 1999 and is now run in every state and territory and raises over $14 million each year for the fight against cancer.
